Beautifully captivating designs for country and equestrian businesses.

Our creative agency

At Wardle & Wilks we have an absolute passion for helping country, lifestyle and equestrian businesses build beautiful brands, attract the right clients and create a thriving business

Firmly rooted in the countryside in the stunning Weald of Kent we are an independent, boutique creative agency with a commitment to excellence who love working with ambitious go getters. We work with small business owners who know they are ready to take things to the next level and are looking to gain a real edge visually, verbally and viscerally.

Where we came from

Right at the start of the pandemic in early 2020 Becky Wardle set up ‘Marketing Buddie ’.

Born out of a desire to help small business owners, predominantly in the equestrian world, grow their companies with greater ease, this boutique consultancy offers a range of bespoke digital marketing and design services to clients. As the business has grown and evolved over the past two years, Becky’s love for design has flourished and left her with a desire to now put this at the heart of her work especially brand design & identity.

As a result she made the decision in 2022 to rebrand and reposition as a Creative Marketing Agency for Equestrian, Country and Lifestyle Brands, and we said hello to Wardle & Wilks.

The story behind the name

Kent and Yorkshire combined, the heart of the country paired with the Garden of England.

The name pays homage to Becky’s fiercely loving Grandma, Gloria Wilks, who would have given last breath to her family if she could. She truly had the heart of a lion! A big hearted, strong minded, hard working Yorkshire woman.

Becky’s Grandparents grew up and lived in a vastly different world than we are in today, but their values still stand strong. Extremely hard working, her Grandad worked in the British Steel mill in Sheffield, while her Grandma worked various jobs. From butchers shop to cleaner, her work ethic couldn’t be faulted, with her overriding priority being her family. These values have since been instilled into Becky’s mum who she looks up to with everything she does, and it is her love of the great outdoors and most of all horses that she has passed onto Becky.

Meet our team

Becky Wardle

Creative Director

Ever since she can remember, Becky has had a genuine love and passion for horses and being outdoors. Often found playing in the fields as a young girl, she thrived on fresh air and animal interactions.

As she grew older, the decision of what to study at University loomed, and the only thing that she wanted was to keep her beloved horse, Buddy, meaning an equestrian degree fitted the bill to a tee. Off they went together to Nottingham Trent University where she studied Equine Sports Science, achieving her degree in 2013.

It was soon clear after leaving University that a creative career was where her heart lay. She spent years working for various equestrian brands such as Mark Todd, Gatehouse, TheraPlate, JHL and local country stores in sales and marketing, with design always creeping in. Her extensive experience now helps her to create beautiful brands, wonderful websites and effective marketing strategies for her clients.

Lucy Holloway

Creative Copywriter

Lucy’s marketing career began in 2012 with the Otago Racing Club in New Zealand. Since returning home and working for The Jockey Club, The British Horse Society and Oakwrights, she found her niche and realised her love of writing and all things word-related!

Fast forward to today, Lucy is a freelance writer who supports rural, equestrian and land-based businesses with their website and social media copy and content, and provides copyediting and proofreading services.

Outside the world of words, you’ll find Lucy, her husband, little girl, and (not-so-working) cocker spaniel on their cider apple farm in Worcestershire – where they also produce horse hay and haylage and have a small flock of Shropshire sheep. Lucy loves eventing, baking (and eating!) cheesecakes and brownies, and a refreshing Friday G&T or glass of fizz.
